A3 Board Game Template [Fully Editable]

(0)
This colourful A3 board game is fully editable. You can change the contents of any of any square on the board. There are so many ways you an adapt this for different lessons. Here are a few examples… a) Maths Write calculations in each box for the children to solve b) Reading Write tricky phonics words or as I have done with this other uploads on here, write word endings and beginnings. You could also have the children use the word in context in a sentence or explain its definition etc. c) Science Write questions relating to your topic in the box, or add in question spaces where children have to pick up a card with a question on. You could even get the class to create their own question cards. All you need for the game is a dice and between 2-5 players. Each of the ideas above follow the same style game play. That is, if you are able to solve the problems or read the words in the space you land on, then you are able to remain there. If not, then you go back to where you were before you rolled. You can also get creative and add in your own special spaces such as miss a go or roll again. Or you can get really creative and add in special reasons. For example, you helped a friend in need, move forward four spaces, or you fell off your bike and broke your head, miss a go. etc.

This worksheet comprises a table of the seven nutrients with columns for their uses and example sources. Each section of the table has blanks for the children to fill in. The words for the blanks are provided in the table at the beginning. Each nutrient also has a few missing letters to fill in. I use this worksheet to reinforce the names, uses and sources of each of the seven nutrients needed in a healthy balanced diet. There are also posters with information on the classroom walls which they can refer to if they need. The document is fully editable so you can differentiate or make any other changes where you please.

My Food Diary

(0)
A food diary for children to record their diet over the course of a school week. Great for when learning about healthy balanced diets and nutrients. Encourages children to reflect upon their own diet and potentially improve it as a result. The booklet includes an example page that gives an idea of what is expected. Each day is split into three meals with snacks and include the following questions and starting statements for each: What did you eat? How much did you eat? Was it tasty? I should have eaten more… I should have eaten less/fewer… Do you think your diet was balanced for this day? Why or why not? The document is fully editable in Word, so you could add extra days or remove as necessary.
An Introduction to Coding - Coding a Route

An Introduction to Coding - Coding a Route

(0)
A great way to introduce the basics of coding in the classroom - no computers necessary. The worksheet is made up of an example code that creates a route from the bottom to the top of a grid. There are then 3 further tasks for the children to complete which involve writing the code for the route as well as reading code and colouring the corresponding route. Extra idea: If you have tiled floors in your classroom or some accessible area of the school, then you can introduce the same concept using children as the players that move along the route. To add extra interest you could blindfold the player!
Electrical Conduction Experiment Write-up Sheet

Electrical Conduction Experiment Write-up Sheet

(0)
This worksheet is a full scientific write-up of a conduction experiment which tests the electrical conduction of different classroom materials. Each part of the scientific method is explained and some parts are partially complete so the children have to fill in the rest. To complete the experiment and write-up, they will need a simple circuit - battery, wires and some sort of small appliance such as a bulb, buzzer or motor. Encourage some creative material choices as they perform the experiment and make sure they write down what material it is made from, for example a metal ruler. Water and water with salt dissolved in it are both interesting substances to hypothesise about and test for conductivity. *The files included in this download are a fully editable DOC and a PDF version of the same. *

Mummify an Apple Experiment

(0)
A full work-through for an experiment on mummifying an apple. Includes the full scientific method from hypothesis through to conclusion. Great to get some science into a topic about Ancient Egypt. I usually begin the experiment so that a month or so later, it coincides with a look at the mummification process. We also create an Adobe Spark video to explain the way the Egyptians made their mummies. Extra discussion prompts: What foods to we preserve? How and why do we preserve them? How is this similar to the process of mummification?

Reveal the Picture Interactive Game [Fully Editable]

This little app called, ‘Hidden’, allows you to play a reveal the picture activity. It consists of numbered tiles which will disappear when clicked on, revealing part of the picture that lies behind. There are two templates included: The first has 12 numbered boxes with text boxes behind each. This allows you to write in your own questions. If the individual/team answers the question correctly, then part of the picture can be revealed for them to have a guess at what it is. The second template has 36 tiles but no question boxes underneath. It can be used as a reward system for answering verbal questions. I often find and use pictures with camouflaged animals in so that they are tricker to guess, even with many different parts revealed.
