Guided Reading Record Year 2

Use these guided reading records to assess your weekly reading objectives in class. The met and revisit boxes are great for highlighting any reading objectives that need more reinforcement. These reading records have been management and inspector approved as a useful assessment tool. All the reading objectives are clearly stated to ensure full coverage of the reading curriculum. These were very useful as an English lead too as they ensured good coverage of the reading objectives and progression throughout the primary school - see my bundle for records from Foundation Stage to Year 6.

These word cards are perfect for phonics games and visual aids in the classroom. Includes each sound from the set 2 and 3 list (diagraphs and trigraphs). Each card has a phonetically plausible word with matching picture and progress through the systematic phonics programme. Meaning as the child progresses through the cards, they will not come across a sound not previously learnt.

Phonics Initial Sounds Bingo Game

For children learning the initial sounds, this is a perfect game to help them identify words beginning with each sound. Following the Read Write Inc sounds progression I have used this two ways… “I spy with my little eye something beginning with p…” and the child finds a picture on their bingo card or… “Who has a h-a-t?” and the child finds the hat on their bingo card or… You could give the child the sounds board and cut up the pictures to match them the other way. Real life pictures are used for real life context. It really helped my beginner readers.
