Taboo - "Transport" - 70 cards

(0)
A 70 card “taboo” game that covers all of transport (heart, circulatory system, respiratory system, spirometer, ECGs, CArriage of oxygen/CO2, Ventilation) Play however you want, but I play this just like the game “taboo”. (I put the students in groups of 3, each member gets 2 mins to win cards for their team - they pick a card off the top, then (through description) have to get their team mates to say the keyword that’s on the card. After 2 mins the next team mate continues).

Liver jigsaw - 16 pieces

(0)
a 16 piece jigsaw on functions of the liver. The completed game forms a giant triangle Can be opened with tarsia (free software) or I’ve also added a PDF version for ease. Simply print out and cut up! [top tip - Print a class set on different coloued card (or paper & laminate) it will last for years [top tip 2 - make differentiated puzzles for your lower achievers. Once sets have been printed in different colours, swap over the central 6 cards of two sets to create two simplier puzzles which are colour coded and therefor easier to complete. Easier for lower ability]

Proteins matching game (44 pieces)

(0)
A 44 piece matching game on protein structure Print, chop up into pieces and play! Each black card gets surrounded by white cards. The number of white cards depends on the number of sides of the back card (eg a triangular balck card will match with three white cards, a square shaped black card will match to four white cards, a pentagon to 5 and a hexagon to 6)

Transport Across Membranes - Flashcards

(0)
A set of 30 flashcards for a uniquely quirky game…here’s how to play cut up all cards - there are 30 put students in pairs/three and place pack between them face down (1 pack of cards per pair) student 1 draws a card and tells student 2 the name of the molecule (eg glucose). Student 2 must reply with information : eg is it polar/non polar? how does it get through the membrane (eg facilitated diffusion), does it use a channel/carrier protein? does it require ATP? Student 2 now repeats step 3-4 Students struggle for a couple of minutes, then really get the hand of it. Stretch and challenge build in to game (eg "moving up to 85% pf potassium into a cell) realy gets them thinking!

Students love this quick fun role playing game where you turn the students and classroom into a cell surface membrane! The students take on the roles of different membrane transports methods (eg carrier protein, channel protein etc). Clear instructions and diagram are included in the set to help you turn your classroom quickly and easily into a cell surface membrane. This game take about 30 minutes in total and has always proved very popular with students.
