I teach English Literature in the Seychelles and so follow the Cambridge specifications for iGCSE and A-level. I like to chose texts which are a little different for my students, and often this means there are initially very few pre-made resources available online. I try to focus on helping students memorise key quotes and internalise writing structures where possible; thus quotes sheets, 20 in 10s and example essay responses feature very highly in my resources.

This was a shorter lesson and planned as the first back after a holiday, so the content is briefer than others in the SOW.

This lesson focuses on chapters 26-28 of the novel as well as taking in an in-depth look at repetitions in the novel and why Bronte uses this as a device in the novel. The lesson mainly focus around Heathcliff and to what extent we can read him as merely 'villainous', or whether this reading is problematised by context or the fact that he is Byronic hero. The lesson resources include key quotations, class discussion, example essays, points for reflection and video clips.

This lesson introduces the key context of the play including religion and belief, women, class an status and the monarchy and the Great Chain of Being. Students are introduced to the moral dilemma in a modern context and then encouraged to think about predictions based on the title and images. Students are then asked to work in groups and given extremely detailed context sheets together with websites and questions for research. Groups are responsible for feeding back their research to the rest of the group. Finally, students are given some key themes to discuss how these points might be relevant to the play. Questions, clips and links are all included. Whilst the lesson was originally planned for the A2 Cambridge Syllabus, it could easily be adapted for other key stages and syllabuses.

The lesson focuses around aspects of love, the importance of setting and how the chapter serves as an opening to the novel (focused around characters, setting, language, themes and voice). The lesson ends with students starting to collate information about their first impressions of Wuthering Heights.
