A KS3 Buddhism lesson teaching students about the eightfold path. The lesson aims to teach students about the eightfold path, its importance and how Buddhist follow the path to enlightenment. The lesson links nicely to previous learning about the four noble truths. Activities include match up, literacy and involve students applying their learning to life scenarios. There are lots of opportunities for questioning/feedback at various points.

A KS3 Islam lesson about Muslims in Britain. This has been taught as part of a Islam unit of work. The aim of the lesson is the explore the challenges faced by Muslims and how these can be addressed. The lesson builds on prior learning and provides students with facts. One task focuses on key beliefs and challenges faced. Another task explores two Muslim charities and their importance. The overall running theme is to dispel myths and provide students with a deeper understanding.

KS3 Sikhism lesson teaching pupils about the Khalsa and Vaisakhi. This lesson has been taught as part of a unit of work but can be taught as a stand alone Sikhism lesson. This lesson has been judged as OUTSTANDING during a lesson observation. The lesson includes a variety of activities to engage students. Role play is used to teach students about the formation of the Khalsa (the lesson includes an alternative to role play - video link in the powerpoint). This lesson promotes deeper thinking and encourages students to use their thinking skills. The lesson also includes a homework task.

KS3 Sikhism lesson about Guru Nanak. This lesson is ideal as an introduction to Sikhism lesson as part of a unit of work, or as a stand alone lesson. The lesson introduces Guru Nanak as the founder of Sikhism. Tasks teach students about key events in Guru Nanak's life and the important teachings from Guru Nanak. The lesson ends with a comparison between Guru Nanak and Jesus (using a Venn diagram), this aims to stretch higher level students. There is a homework task attached to this lesson.

A NEW SPEC Eduqas charities lesson from the topic human rights. This lesson aims to teach students about different religious charities, their importance of giving to charity and why charity is important. There are tasks that explore personal views about charity. Students explore Christian teachings (e.g. Parable of the Sheep and Goats) about charities and examples of Christian charities. The lesson includes an example exam style question for students to complete (using the FARM formula to answer these questions). Differentiation - through the use of the attached worksheet, suitable for lower ability students or students where behaviour may affect learning.

A KS3 lesson teaching students Buddhist beliefs about the wheel of life, karma and rebirth. The lesson is visually appealing and promotes high levels of interest from students. The lesson aims to teach students what the wheel of life is and why it is important for Buddhists. This lesson is student led, with the main activity planned as a presentation from students. This lesson has been taught over one lesson, but can be taught over two depending on ability, behaviour and preparation time given for the main task. Students have the opportunity to be as creative as they like. Learning is checked throughout and there are lots of opportunities for questioning.

A lesson focusing on key Hindu beliefs and teachings about the afterlife. Students are taught key information to meet the outcome ‘I can describe Hindu beliefs about the afterlife, so I am able to discuss evidence and make comparisons.’ Studnets encouraged to consider the following questions: What do Hindus believe about life after death? What is meant by the key terms atman, reincarnation and samsara? What is karma? How does it impact on a persons life? Why do Hindus have these beliefs? The lessons main activity is a fun game design to explain key Hindu beliefs about the afterlife. Has been planned for KS3, but would be perfect for KS2 or lower ability KS4.

A KS3 Sikhism lesson about the Gurdwara. Can be purshased as part of a bundle. The lesson has a variety of activities that are differentiated for studnets. The main activities provide challenge. There lots of opportunities for discussion. The clip is a True Tube clip. Lesson can be adapted and amended to suit, but can be taught as it is.

A KS3 Buddhism lesson that teaches students about the 5 moral precepts and meditation. It starts with exploring what the precepts are and their positive/negative aspect. Students explain their understanding through the use of examples. The second part of the lesson teaches students about Buddhist meditation and its importance. There is an opportunity to participate in meditation. This lesson is great to engage students and is an example of active learning. Suitable for all abilities/dynamics - I have found this lesson work particularly well with lower ability, poor behaviour classes due to the focus on active learning. The scripts provided are standard meditation scripts, however can be adapted slightly.

GCSE lessons on Bandura. These lessons introduce the study - its aims, hypothesis, methods and results. There is also an evaluation task that requires students to draw on previous learning. A variety of activities (e.g. word fill, discussion, sorting) and lots of opportunities for progress checking (e.g. true/false, post its). This lesson can be taught as two but condensed down in to one lesson if needed. These can follow on from lessons about Social Learning Theory (see my resources).

A KS3 lesson teaching students about the Christian denominations. The lesson aims to teach students what a denomination is, some of the Christian denominations and the similarities/differences between RC and CofE. The lesson has a starter activity that encourages students to think outside of the box. The lesson is differentiated - there are two alternative worksheets for students to use in order to support their learning. This lesson is perfect for a mixed ability Y7/Y8 class. The quiz style plenary is a fun way to check learning. There is a homework task included with this lesson.

A BTEC Law lesson on polices powers with regards to searching people, vehicles and premises. This lesson is for BTEC Level 3 students studying Applied Law. Also links to Public Services. This powerpoint includes information on the law and activities/discussion work for students to become involved in. This resource can be used over a one lesson or a number of lessons with more discussion time.

An emotive and engaging PSHE lesson focusing on the affects the media can have on body image. This lesson has been observed as outstanding. The lesson aims to teach students how the media represents men and women, how Photoshop can be used to alter images and the impact of this. The lesson engages students in all aspects and encourages them to consider their opinions. I have taught this lesson with high ability, lower ability and mixed ability - it works perfectly with all students because it explore opinions and feelings in a sensitive and mature manner. Includes some videos and activities from the Dove Campaign and BBC Learning Zone (all links are included in the powerpoint).

BTEC lesson for Unit 1 where students will learn about the courts. The main focus of this lesson is for students to understand the difference between civil and criminal courts. There are mini activities/examples to check students understanding.

Two Easter lessons suitable for all abilities at KS3. The theme running through these lessons is sacrifice. Activities link back to this theme. A good mix of AO1 and AO2 in these lessons, making links between the two. Students will learn about Holy Week and the significance of the events. Links are made to how Christians celebrate Easter and how the events of Holy Week are still important. Can be adapted to be taught as just one lesson.

KS3 lesson about the Muslim community (Ummah). This lesson aims to teach students what the Ummah is, its importance and how the Ummah links to commitment. The lesson includes a range of activities e.g. group work, paired work, literacy tasks and a homework task.

A KS3 lesson teaching students about the life of the Buddha. It is perfect the start a unit of work on Buddhism or as part of a religious founders unit of work. The lesson includes a variety of activities and focuses on checking learning at various points in the lesson through in depth questioning. The first activity uses the Animated World Faiths clip (any alternative clip can be used). The final activity offers students a choice of two tasks, that can be selected based on their ability/behaviour/learning style/etc. The lesson is engaging and fun for students.

BTEC Applied Law task about lawyers and lay people. To be used as a presentation, detailing the types of people involved in the legal system (both professionals and lay people). Evaluation points can be used to stimulate a discussion. BTEC task in order to support Unit 1.
