Basically these are my resources for the last specifications and before, which is why they are cheap. They will get you sailing towards the new specs for sure, helping the kids to get fully familiar with the basics, including language, themes, context and characters.

5 weeks’ worth of lessons to teach this much loved but under represented play - annoys me that Inspector Calls tends to pip it, which is why I’ve included the High Prior Attainment work and RAG most of the lessons. I teach AQA but the specification has changed about a billion times in the last six seconds, so most of the work is as generic as possible; I don’t go for teaching to the exam, I teach the play. It’s what we’re paid for. Passing the exam is the pupils’ job. Enjoy :-)

It says fairy tales but it’s quite scary - so beware your more tender hearted souls. The usual worksheets, resources and powerpoints for a jolly good teach-out. If you’re really wanting to spread the culture, check out Paula Rego - the Portuguese artist who illustrated some fairly heavy tales.

There is a pupil booklet with activities for each poem as well as a strategy for overall study. The poems are accompanied by a powerpoint including each poem.

Six lessons for a breakdown day, fully resourced. Can be delivered by English, Humanities or Form Tutors - the lessons are designed to be active, fun and have a general Literacy focus across the key areas of English, History and Science.

For each lesson there is a Powerpoint presentation and a differentiated close-reading Microsoft Word worksheet, plus a range of non-fiction activities designed to address the book’s historical context. This unit allows the teacher to study the book closely in parallel with class reading; it introduces the sensitive and complex subject matter incrementally, allowing Y7s or Y8s enough time and opportunity to best appreciate the shock of the book’s final event .

A single ppt three lesson unit based on The Gashleycrumb Tinies, suitable for a fun intro to Gothic Literature for KS3. Accessible and interactive for able Y7s up to more challenging Y9s.

A fun one-off, or introduction to Science Fiction, for an able Y7 or mixed ability Y8/9 - the ppt is the springboard for a week’s creative writing and group work, leading to a speaking and listening or presentation. The unit could also be set as a project based half term homework.

PPTs and Worksheets to link Logos, to slogans, to adverts to persuasive writing of the highest calibre.

This is a brilliant little unit for a Y7 or low ability class who need ‘grabbing’. It’s self contained in one ppt, extremely easy to deliver and results in some excellent display work if you choose. You could use it as a starter for Gothic Literature.

This is a fully comprehensive scheme of work with a powerpoint and differentiated worksheet for each chapter, so you can make it last as long as you like. It’s a very difficult text to teach lower down so I’ve taken great care examining the range of challenging ideas within while keeping the lessons active and full of opportunities for discussion and creative writing as well as close textual analysis and assessments.

Mostly suitable for Y9 but would challenge an able Y8 class. It could be taught as part of your regular schemes of work, put together as a self-contained study booklet or used to support absent colleagues with its ‘copy and teach’ format.
