Challenging Stereotypes PowerPoint

(0)
This is a very simple PowerPoint that can be used stand alone or as part of PSHE. It begins to challenge stereotypes in a way that children of any age can understand such as female ballerinas and male footballers. Prior to the activity, give the children a piece of A4 paper and ask them to split it into 8 equal squares. During the activity, the slides will ask you to draw 7 pictures of a ballerina, firefighter, footballer, nurse, builder and a scientist. The remaining slides will ask you if you drawings looked like any of the examples. These images should spark great discussion from the children.

This booklet was originally created as a Mental Health Awareness Day activity for my year 3/4’s. The booklet goes through the following: The Blob Tree - How do you feel today? (I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS IMAGE!) What makes you feel fuzzy feelings? (Angry, sad, mad, frustrated, cross, upset.) How do you get over these fuzzy feelings? (What makes you happy / cheers you up?) Who can help you? Draw a picture of what makes you happy. This booklet can be printed in A4 and stapled or as A5 to be folded. It can be used in any order.
