English Lit. AQA GCSE Poetry. Blank A3 Revision Posters for the Conflict and Power Anthology.

My class find filling in the boxes preferable to making their own posters for revision. Each poster asks for 5 top quotations, key themes, literary choices (writer’s method/poetic devices), a summary, context and an ‘It’s almost as if…’. The game at the end is for them to make links between the poems without using their notes - I print off and laminate one per pair (they will last forever!).

Frankenstein STORYBOARD 24 box blank summary sheet A3

As the children go through the chapters - summarise and revise using this sheet. Around each box students write any literary techniques e.g. foreshadowing, pathetic fallacy etc. In the box the pupils write a key theme (parental love, science versus God etc.), the most important quote from the chapter and a stick figure drawing summarising what has happened. Walton's letters and frame narrative I get them to write at the beginning or you can get them to draw a frame around the sheet.

A support sheet for students writing a comparison between generations in An Inspector Calls. Formulated for a mixed ability year 9 set. Students are given this sheet before final assessment question: 'How does Priestley present some of the differences between the older and younger generations in AIC?'. Support sheet can be written on by lower level students. Similarities side is for a 1 sim. 1 diff. practice leading up to the final assessment.

Year 10 and 11 Power and Conflict Poetry Revision 3 Part Story

(0)
A 3 part story to go with each poem from the Power and Conflict Anthology for Lit. Paper 2 AQA. I have yet to find a student who can forgot the one for Kamikaze! I usually split the poems into three umbrella terms under Power and Conflict; The Reality of War, Internal Conflict and the Power of Nature, which are colour coded. Three funny/memorable parts of a story relate to three chronological quotations from within the poems. Students can add to these if they wish, but a great starting point to revise and remember 45 quotations. I also have the accompanying wall display up in my classroom with just the pictures on show, tacked at the top only over the quotations so students can lift them up to test themselves. Any words/phrases that are underlined are either word/lit. choices for the students to explore and have all been carefully selected so there are some in there.
