This resource is a 21-slide Powerpoint designed to guide KS2 pupils to design an exciting Scratch 2-player game where 2 characters (sprites) have a snowball fight!

Using numeric variables to create a scoreboard so that learners will be able to keep track of the winning score!

A great fun activity for the lead up to Christmas - this resource could be used for a day - a whole week as learners can make the game as simple or as complicated as they wish.

The learning objectives in the Powerpoint are as follows…

  • Add a background
  • Add characters (sprites)
  • Draw a projectile sprite (the snowball!)
  • Code sprites to move
  • Implement a scoring system using numeric variables
  • Recogise how multiple sprites can communicate with each other using broadcast blocks and code this to happen!

I have included 3 slides which can be printed off and used as tools to problem solve potential errors they may face. These will allow pupils to independently ‘debug’.

I have also included a ‘What next?’ slide for more able learners who want to enhance each player’s gamign experience. This keeps the task open ended.
