This resource is a KS2 Geography unit designed for teaching about a contrasting UK locality. It focuses on Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, once home to famous children’s author Roald Dahl. The resources include an interactive presentation, a topic cover page and differentiated activities.
First the presentation recaps the location of the UK within the wider world. It then uses satellite photos and maps to locate the village of Great Missenden within the UK. Children are also encouraged to identify and classify regional human and physical geographical features throughout.
The activity asks children to identify and label geographical features in and around the Great Missenden locality. More able children can be challenged to classify these features as human or physical.
