This shortened version of ‘The Government Inspector’ by N V GOGOL proved to be very useful for my A-level Russian students who wrote essays on this play and got A*-A for the exam. It is a shortened version (around 30%) of the whole play/comedy, with all the important lines/quotes preserved. Reading this version allows to have a very good appreciation of the characters and of the play overall while saving a lot of time.
