Lesson Description:
This is a beloved challenge for students; perhaps they have the need for speed! For sure this challenge gives students a chance to understand the benefits of gears as well as building a car with a low center of gravity. Ideally students should work together in teams of 2 to 4 students.3

Learning Goals:
Students learn how to build a racer with a gear down configuration. Also the racer must stop automatically at the finish line.

Success Criteria:
• Team works together to build a functional racer
• Team's racer can go from the start to the finish
• Team uses a sensor to stop at the finish

Assessment Strategies and Monitoring Progress:
Team has competed in a race against another team (How well were they able to work together?)
