Meet Alexander Calder, the artist who made sculptures move (Mobiles) and sculptures stand tall (Stabiles)!. Today, we make a Stabile! A Stabile is sturdy, 3D art that balances on its own. We will use simple cardboard shapes to explore how to build a strong, standing structure. We learn about balance and geometric shapes to make our own playful, brightly coloured art, just like Calder!
This presentation can be used as a full lesson plan with the construction steps, teaching primary aged children to make triangle sculptures inspired by Alexander Calder.
