In this engaging project-based maths lesson, pupils plan and design animal enclosures according to area and perimeters design briefs. With three differentiated levels, this activity supports learners at different stages and brings maths to life through a creative, problem-solving context.

**What’s Included
**
Three levels of differentiation:
Level 1: Simple area and perimeter practice
Level 2: Area and perimeter ranges for reasoning
Level 3: Cost extension – fencing, flooring, and budgeting

Printable enclosure tables and student record sheets
Cost list and budgeting worksheet

How It Works

Pupils use the given measurements to design animal enclosures on squared paper. Once their zoo layout is complete, they calculate fencing and flooring costs and ensure they stay within budget. Perfect for a geometry or measurement unit, or as a fun cross-curricular STEM project.
