Gunpowder, Treason and Plot: Why We Remember Bonfire Night

A KS2 assembly that investigates the Gunpowder Plot like historians: who the plotters were, why Guy Fawkes was not the leader, the anonymous letter to Lord Monteagle, the midnight search, and why Parliament still searches its cellars before the State Opening. It separates what is certain from what historians still debate, is careful never to blame a whole religion for the actions of a few, and finishes with firework safety from RoSPA and a message about disagreeing peacefully. Facts are checked against UK Parliament’s history pages.
