This Scheme of Work covers Part 1 of Trevor Noah’s autobiography: Born a Crime (The first 8 chapters).

It includes tasks for each chapter, designed to cover reading and writing outcomes in a fun, engaging way. I did it with my mixed Grade 8/9 class over a few weeks but it can easily be adapted for older grades. This book is such a wonderful way to open up genuine, meaningful discussions about Apartheid and my class is really loving it so far.

I have included vocabulary lists for each chapter. I’ve also taken some of the powerpoint slides and created classroom notes so that students don’t need to waste too much time writing them down.

SOW’s for Part 2 and 3 will follow soon
