I created this project in order for my Year 10 learners to develop an understanding of metal skills and basic engineering. Learners are given a brief to manufacture a bottle opener from mild steel blank. All learners make their bottle opener from the same working drawing however they have an opportunity to design the handle and engrave using the laser cutter. I have included the working drawing and the work booklet I use with them through this project learners are given the opportunity to cut, shape, drill and heat treat metal. They also develop an understanding of accuracy and tolerances. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
