Lesson is taught as part of AQA GCSE Religious Studies A - but easily adapted for any specification or even for KS3 (Year 9).

Lesson consists of content for three lessons but can be taught as one (slides 1-10 and slide 19).

Lesson one:
Starter - recap questioning on aims of punishment
Main activity- Scaffolded work sheet (A3) covering details of capital punishment (e.g. law/types), religious teachings (gap fill) and arguments for and against.
Application - Planning sheet for 12 mark question

**Lesson Two/Three: **
Video link with evaluation questions and activity on key scholars spoken about in video.

Statistics and examples are used throughout to support pupil engagement and add depth to evaluation exam answers.
