Brighten up algebra lessons in the run up to Christmas with this fun festive challenge.

Students are presented with a rather complicated-looking algebraic fraction. Simplifying the fraction by cancelling out the indices reveals a series of letters that can be rearranged to spell out a word connected to Christmas.
