What’s Included:

3 Lower KS (KS1–Lower KS2) Christmas DT projects:

  1. The workshop has too many presents! We need to know the best way to stack them safely until the sleigh is loaded. Build the tallest tower that can stand up all by itself and hold one small toy (like a tiny elf or a toy car) on the very top for 10 seconds.
  2. The reindeer need to practice running down slopes, but they keep tripping! We need a ramp to help them slide as fast as possible. Design and build a ramp that makes a small rolling toy (like a marble or small car) travel the furthest distance across the floor.
  3. *The elves need to cross a small river of hot chocolate (a gap in the table) to reach the cookie station, but the bridge keeps falling down! **Build a bridge using flat materials that can span a small gap (about the length of a ruler) and hold the weight of 5 small chocolate coins or 5 building blocks.

**3 Upper KS2 Christmas DT projects **

  1. Disaster at the Gingerbread Village! A winter storm has blown down some of the gingerbread houses, and the gingerbread people need new homes—fast!**** Build a strong and stable gingerbread-style house (card structure) ****
  2. Oh no! Santa’s sleigh has hit a bumpy patch of Christmas clouds, and he needs a safe way to land in time to deliver presents****.Make a parachute to help “Santa” land safely ****
  3. *The North Pole has had a huge snowfall, and Santa needs a brand-new lookout tower so the elves can spot incoming reindeer and check the weather. Build the tallest possible self-supporting tower using only marshmallows (or pasta/Blu-Tack) as connectors and toothpicks/skewers as struts. The tower must hold a light weight (like a piece of candy) on top for 10 seconds.
