Lessons are suitable for the new style GCSE in Geography targeted for AQA-A GCSE 1-9 created by an AQA examiner.
Lessons are differentiated with supporting activities throughout.
All lessons include key words and relevant worksheets.

The lessons cover:
• Coastal processes: weathering, erosion
• Coastal landforms: hard and soft coastlines including examples
• Management strategies: coastal engineering (hard, soft and manage retreat, including examples)
Lesson objectives are as follows:
1. to explain what happens when waves reach the coastline
2. to identify the physical processes that shape the coastline
3. to explain the landforms that result from erosion at hard coastlines
4. to explain the landforms that result from erosion at soft coastlines
5. to explain how material is transported along a coastline
6. to describe how landforms are created as a result of longshore drift
7. to identify key characteristics of landforms found a coastline
8. to examine the different landforms found on the South Coast of Britain
9. to investigate the hard engineering strategies in the UK
10. to assess the impact hard engineering has on the coastline
11. to identify the key differences between soft and hard engineering.
12. to assess the coastal protection method of managed retreat and its effectiveness.
13. The Holderness Coastline
a. To describe the impacts of erosion at the Holderness Coastline
b. To examine why protection is needed
c. To assess the correct types of engineering to install.
