A micro-chemistry procedure for studying the colours of complex ions, the stability of ligands and the exchange reactions that can lead to colour changes. There are several preliminary questions included, as well as a number of post-lab questions.

Included is also a procedure to produce a colloidal suspension of Prussian blue, which is a good opportunity to remind students of concepts such as:
- precipitation
- mixtures
- separation of compounds
- purity
It is also an interesting experiment in that Prussian blue was the world's first synthetic dye.
