These resources were originally delivered to student teachers at Sunderland University.

The main objective was to give useful mathematical tools that can be embedded into English lessons.
The secondary objective was to increase the students confidence in mathematics, exploring the commonalities between English and Mathematics as academic subjects.

The session is fairly flexible and includes some history, word-play and a few mathematical problems that can be explored for the sake of solving a problem. I imagine that the majority of people will gain from the set list of mathematical “tools” that can be applied to any lesson.

All problems and puzzles given were used in my research in psychology and mathematical education. For any further information on the resources or to discuss similar CPD sessions, please feel free to contact me at davidmyersop@gmail.com.
