This is a recent English / Film / Media Studies crossover unit I recently delivered to my Entry Level English class.

We focused on the general conventions and background to the Sci-fi sub-genre, Cyberpunk, as well as specific films within this style such as The Matrix, Ghost In The Shell, Akira & Bladerunner.

All of this was assessed at the end by students creating a movie poster for their very own Cyberpunk movie.

Lessons included:

  1. Cyberpunk I
  2. Cyberpunk II
  3. Cyberpunk II
  4. The Matrix
  5. The Lobby Scene
  6. The Setting
  7. Act One, Scene One
  8. Leaving the Matrix
  9. Movie Posters (This will take several lessons to complete)

Also Included:

  1. Full screenplay to “The Matrix”
  2. Creative Writing Assessment
