This revision lesson challenges the students on their knowledge of the function of the main and accessory organs of the human digestive system. The lesson has been planned to cover the content of point 2.2.1 of the AQA GCSE biology and combined science specifications.

As shown on the cover image, the lesson begins with a version of !mpossible, where the students have to identify the organ which isn’t a main or an accessory organ of the digestive system. Moving forwards, a series of understanding checks and exam style questions are used to allow the students to assess their understanding of the functions of the organs. All answers are embedded into the PowerPoint. A number of quiz rounds are also used to emphasise key terms and values. As much of the content is covered as possible during this revision lesson, but the following sub-topics are given priority:

The role of the digestive enzymes
The effect of temperature on enzymes
The importance of bile
