The unit plan allows students to learn about the world economy by looking at one region, Central America and the Caribbean

Students will be working collaboratively to research one country of Central America or the Caribbean, while building their digital literacy and writing proficiency. Upon completion of their research, groups will create a television advertisement to persuade others to visit their country.

Discussion questions are provided in both English and Spanish, to allow the opportunity to have a dual language conversation in your classroom. The Spanish option can be edited out.

Research will require access to a source for gaining information.
Effective online sources include The World Book Encyclopedia, the Britannica Encyclopedias, or the online tool CultureGrams. If these are not available to you, another online option is Google’s search engine for students, www.safesearchkids.com.

You will also need a source for students to create and edit their videos. If iMovie or Windows Movie Maker are not available to you a free online video editing option is WeVideo. If this is not an option students can present their commercial orally instead of on a video.
