Edexcel English Language Paper 1 lesson that looks at Q3 and in particular sentences and how they can impact on a reader. We analyse an extract and look at how the writer has used short sentences and longer, descriptive sentences to build up a sense of a terrifying character. The lesson tries to move students away from generic, shallow answers like ‘it makes it interesting for the reader’ to more specific, in-depth analysis of sentences. A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that helps students write detailed answers for Edexcel Language Paper 1 Section A Q3. The lesson, ideal for both KS3 and KS4 students preparing for Edexcel English Language Paper 1 Section A, focuses on sentences and their effects.
