This FOUR lesson resource concludes a ten lesson unit on the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ franchise. Important, whilst I clearly sign post other titles in the franchise and key talking points, the main title of study is ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhala’. This resource looks at/ includes:

-Focused case studies throughout on games within the franchise
-Key facts/ stats on the franchise and the Gaming industry as a whole
-A retained learning summary task on the five Audience theorists with key term support (see notes).
-Females in the gaming industry, objectification, misogyny online and facts around audience share.
-Audio/visual deconstruction and analysis of the cahracters of Avaline and Kassandra.
-Psychographics and application.
-The franchise as a USP.
-Fandom and an in-depth look at the 15th Anniversary of the ‘AC’ franchise.
-Stadia success and failure.
-Cross-play/ cross-platform gaming
-42. How do media producers target specialised audiences? Refer to Assassin’s franchise to support your points. [12] (Adapted Official 2020 exam question).
-What are the benefits to Ubisoft, the fandom and the ‘AC’ franchise of this type of gaming experience?
-Streamers, influencers and monetization.
-Key application of Bandura, Jenkins and Shirky to the franchise/ ‘ACV’
-TASK 5: AUDIENCE CONSOLIDATION
You will now have 40 MINUTES to apply all of the above theories to ‘AC’. I will provide you with a blank A3 sheet of paper. You will now create a revision resource on audience as this has a high likelihood of coming up on the exam. DO NOT FORGET TO INCLUDE/CONSIDER CONTEXTS! Once this task is finished, place it in your folder, under the ‘AC’ section.

**IMPORTANT: This resource includes a Framework H/W pack, printable power point/Word worksheets and notes in the notes section to support and guide teachers/ learning.

Whilst I have embedded a variety of videos, due to blocks on school accounts/ restrictions, if they do not **work, please see the links in the notes section of each slide.

The power point also includes theoretical framework + additional theorist slides at the end of the power point to aid differentiation/ scaffolding etc.

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school operates a two year A-Level; AS (YEAR 12) AND A2 (YEAR 13).
Moreover, some of the tasks in lesson and for H/W are dependent upon owning the EDUQAS AS/ A2 Revision Guides/ Mark Dixon’s ‘Media Theory for A Level: The Essential Revision Guide’
