This Double lesson is perfect for assessing retained knowledge of Component 1 forms as well as throwing in some festive fun with Christmas related tasks. Students work in groups to collect candy canes. The most candy canes at the end of the Quiz, relates in the group winning an educational or chocolate prize (the choice is theres). The lessons focuses on the following set-up/stimuli:

**We have a serious situation. Santa Claus has a bad case of tinselitis and Stuart Hall, being the all-round great guy/ Daddy of Media studies that he is, has stepped up to the plate.

However, when he arrived at the North Pole, he decided to represent Christmas in a different way and the elves were not happy and have consequently gone on strike!

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Hall has been kidnapped and a ransom left asking for a large quantity of candy canes. However, before he was taken, he contacted me on speed dial and asked me to help find him some recruits to help deliver Christmas and media studies to the world.

Therefore, I hereby deputise you all as his little helpers.

Your mission: Deconstruct Hall’s ways of doing things so that we can locate Hall and save Christmas! The group that finds him first will be handsomely rewarded by Santa.

Good luck all! I hope you cane it!**

Tasks include a quiz, written task, theorist recall and debates.

This resource comes with a score sheet for students to record answers and is swapped for peer assessment to ensure fairness. This is a fantastic resource for teh last week of term that will both entertain and assess retained knowledge at the same time. This is great for Year 10 or 11 classes and when I taught it to my Year 10’s last week (13th Dec), they loved it, stating it was one of the most engaging things they had done this year and helped them to embed where they had been going wrong on SAM’s etc.

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW. Moreover, each lesson has a task whereby students RAG (Red, Amber, Green) what they have learnt in the lesson against an Examiner checklist (Differentiation, peer assessment).

(Each lesson is laid out as I teach my own class but I have added notes at the bottom of some of the slides e.g. on the Media Teaser, to aide teachers. All lessons are developed with differentiation, assessment/challenge as well as engagement entrenched heavily within all my resources. Moreover, constant reference is made throughout to the selected Examiner Media.

If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.
