El Día de los muertos (remote and in-person teaching)

This is a complete lesson for El Día de los muertos that includes the following:

an introduction with the painting by Diego Rivera El Día de los muertos;
a warm up group activity with a Venn Diagram and an infographic comparing el Día de los muertos with Halloween;
key vocabulary introduction (La ofrenda);
a story reading about the Day of the Dead by Mis Cositas;
questions about the story;
a virtual tour of Las ofrendas in the DIA- the students describe una ofrenda of their choice using Hay un(a)…
an optional game activity for breakout rooms (Xs and Os)
an independent work project- the students create a virtual ofrenda
another independent work activity, where the students make a video introducing a loved one, who has passed away.
