This lesson covers:
• GCSE Recap on electronic structure - Recap task to assess what students remember and annotate periodic table with electronic structure basics
•Shells, sub-shells and orbitals (PPT animation made to help students visualise what orbitals and sub-shells are and how they relate to electrons) - Students then complete a short task to check understanding following this they annotate their periodic tables again with the s, p, d and f block
•Determining electronic structure with orbital diagrams, full structure and shorthand structure - There is a quick understanding check where students identify mistakes from rules not being followed then students practice determining electronic structure with 20 examples with a further application challenge when task is completed
2x sheets per student required for this lesson however 1 is a periodic table which will be annotated in further lessons (Ionic bonding)
