This is a presentation on the elements of the visual arts, i.e. line, shape, colour, texture, value, form and space. It is suitable for Year 3 onwards. Two worksheets are included. A lesson could comprise of exploring the presentation as a class followed by individual work using worksheets in which students use their new knowledge.

The presentation is in both PPT (MS Powerpoint) and PDF format. As well as a description of each element, it includes many visual examples of the elements including colour examples of the elements as used by well-known artists. At the end are some web links to follow for more material on art and the elements of art. The presentation has 22 pages and might take up to 30 minutes to view and explore.

There are two worksheets with this resource. The first is for younger or less able students in which they choose three of the elements and draw examples of each. The second is for older or more able students who draw an artwork using the elements and write an explanation of how they have used each element in their artwork.
