Physics: Forces Lesson

This is a fully resourced introductory lesson teaching pupils about the different types of forces.

This Physics: Forces Lesson pack contains: A PPT (32 slides) and handouts (3 sheets) .

Activities include:

Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- on forces.

A mind map on forces. Following which there is a visual explanation of what forces are.
Pupils will then undertake a Conveyor belt activity and have to match up the correct picture with the correct type of force and meaning.

Included in this pack is a peer assessment sheet that can be used to mark the individual activities.
Exit task/Plenary: ‘MOO or False’ This is a true or false activity based on the information gathered during the lesson.

In our lessons, all key words are added to our KS3 Science - Scientific Vocabulary A-Z .

Forces

This is a bundle of four complete and fully resourced lessons introducing pupils to forces in Science. The resources are... Intro to Forces: Physics: Forces Lesson This is a fully resourced introductory lesson teaching pupils about the different types of forces. This Physics: Forces Lesson pack contains: A PPT (32 slides) and handouts (3 sheets) . Activities include: Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- on forces. A mind map on forces. Following which there is a visual explanation of what forces are. Pupils will then undertake a Conveyor belt activity and have to match up the correct picture with the correct type of force and meaning. Included in this pack is a peer assessment sheet that can be used to mark the individual activities. Exit task/Plenary: 'MOO or False' This is a true or false activity based on the information gathered during the lesson. Measuring Force-This is a practical lesson introducing pupils to Newton meters. Physics: Measuring Force, Newton Meters Lesson pack contains: A PPT (15 slides) and a peer assessment handout (1 sheet). Activities include: Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- measuring force. Task 1: Pupils are introduced to Sir Isaac Newton and his invention, the Newton Meter. Then pupils are asked to measure everyday items and record this information in the form of a table in their exercise books. Task 2: Pupils should then be given a spring and a hook and 5 weights (1-5 kilograms). They will need to hang the spring and add the weights one by one and measure the length of the spring each time a weight is added and record the data in the form of a table. They will then be asked to plot a line graph (you will need to provide graph paper for this task). Task 3: Pupils will need to conclude on the results and describe the relationship between weights added and the length of the spring and link this to how a Newton meter works. Included in this pack is a peer assessment sheet that can be used to mark the individual activities. Plenary: our interactive [Starter and Plenary Prompt Selector](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/starter-and-plenary-prompt-selector-interactive-11720103) that is worth £3. Balanced & Unbalanced Force: Forces: Balanced and Unbalanced Force This is a fully resourced lesson introducing pupils to balanced and unbalanced forces. This Balanced and Unbalanced Force Lesson pack contains: A PPT (23 slides) and a Workbooklet (2 sheet). Activities include: Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- on movement of objects. Task 1: Pupils are introduced to balanced and unbalanced forces by watching a short YouTube video clip and can make notes on this. Task 2: Pupils then complete an activity on different objects and determine the direction of movement on the object. Task 3: Pupils will swap their books and peer assess their answers. Task 4: Pupils will watch a short animation and be asked to take part in a class discussion on this. Task 5: Pupils will be required to complete a flow chart on the animation. Exit task/Plenary: our interactive [Starter and Plenary Prompt Selector](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/starter-and-plenary-prompt-selector-interactive-11720103) that is worth £3. Friction: A Grab and Go Lesson! To see a video of this lesson please visit: https://www.facebook.com/TeachElite/ Alternatively, you can download a copy of the sample video from: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/friction-sample-11588011 This is a complete lesson on the topic of Friction. It includes a fully editable lesson plan, PowerPoint, Differentiated activities (at the end of the PowerPoint) and a Pupil Peer Assessment sheet. The PowerPoint includes a bell task linking back to forces and a conveyor belt activity on the topic of forces too. Pupils are taught the basic principles of friction and then are given the task of creating a leaflet on the topic. There is a level ladder included in this pack based on Skill 1: Finding Information. Forces AFL: Pull the udder one! A completely customisable true or False activity. This particular one is based on forces. Pupils love the interaction shouting moo (true) or quacking for false statements. This can be used as a starter, plenary or an AFL checkpoint activity throughout the lesson. In our lessons, all key words are added to our [KS3 Science - Scientific Vocabulary A-Z](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/ks3-science-scientific-vocabulary-a-z-11492390) . these presentations are all about how they look and less about structuring a lesson/engaging learners. Not useful.

If there were 10 stars I would give that! this resource is really outstanding- colourful and just perfect for the ability I wanted, yet so easily adapted with not much effort for a slightly higher ability. I searched high and low. Will be recommending you guys to HoD, we need some engaging stuff for our EAL and lower ability - and higher ability kids.
