A lesson on French colours covering also gender agreement. Each task has an extension task to cater for the more able students.

STARTER: students write down the colours shown on the powerpoint. They write the translation in English guessing by the actual colour.

LANGUAGE INPUT: teacher explain the word order in French for nouns and adjectives (un cahier vert NOT un vert cahier). Then the teacher explains the rule for gender agreement (masculine, feminine, plural) and the different exceptions (bleus NOT bleux, violette NOT violete).

TASK 1: complete the words with the ‘E’ for feminine if necessary.
TASK 2: read the sentences and sort the underlined words in the correct category (masculine/feminine).

PLENARY: check for understanding using the emojis (happy face = I feel very confident, flat face = I feel a bit confident, sad face = I don’t feel confident at all).
