A collection of four worksheets on functions and linear relationships.
In the first worksheet the students are required determine if a given relationship is a function or not. More precisely, they have to identify functions from sets of ordered pairs, tables of values, mapping diagrams and graphs.
The second worksheet on linear functions. The exercises require to:
sketch graphs of linear functions
find the points of intersection of linear functions with the axes given their equation
determine if given points lie on a linear function given its equation and find other points on that line
Find the value of the parameter of a or b in the equation y=ax+b given a point on this line
find the equation of a line given two points on the line (the one is the point of intersection with the x-axis)
find the equation of a line given its graph
The third worksheet on identifying the equation of a line that is parallel or perpendicular to the axes or a line that passes through the origin (0,0), given its graph. In the latter case the students have to spot a point on the line and substitute the coordinates of this point on the equation y=ax in order to find the value of the parameter a.
The fourth worksheet is on the slope of a line and the equation of a line. The students are required to find:
the slope of a line given its equation
the equation of a line given its slope and a point on the line
the equation of a line given two points on the line (one of them is the origin or the point of intersection with one of the axes)
the slope of a line given its graph
Detailed solutions to all are included.
