APPROX HALF TERM OF LESSONS

Exploring how and why population demographics are different around the world. How we can measure the level of development growth rate of countries, looking at demographic data and trends over time.

The exploration of country characteristics through game-play and competition.

Data drilling to determine the variety of growth indicators of development.

Presentation of data to show comparisons of countries, allowing a bridge to GCSE themes, and the areas of knowledge needed for the next level.

Encourages team work, a large number of applicable skills - allows for all types of learner types to access and excel in their reaction to this ongoing, extended piece of assessed work looking at the issues of determining global development trends.

Encourage learners to make use of Google Earth, excel, population data, CIA world factbook use.

Map skills:
Map interpretation, latitude and longitude, map skills/past paper questions used in GCSE examinations, research skills.
