This is the 15th annual geographygeek Christmas quiz. It bridges the difficult gap between an end of term ‘fun lesson’ and learning. The quiz contains 12 rounds and a bonus round. Each round gives clues from a news story about a specific country. Students must guess which country the story relates to. Once they get the answer correct, they earn a figure worth:
5 points if correct after the first clue
4 points if correct after the second clue
3 points if correct after the third clue
2 point if correct after the fourth clue
1 point if correct after the fifth clue
They must then cut out the figures and use them to make a snow day scene, which they can gain extra points for at the end of the lesson.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Project the PowerPoint (making sure you know the answers, which are in the slide notes).
- Print enough copies of the answer sheet for 1 per group.
- Print enough copies of the figures to cut out and distribute as groups get questions correct. Each group will only get a maximum of 12 figures, but if lots of groups get the same score, you may need a couple of these sheets per class.
- Have plain paper (1 sheet per group), scissors, glue, pencils and colouring pencils at the ready!
