Geographygeek Christmas Quiz 2025

This is the 15th annual geographygeek Christmas quiz. It bridges the difficult gap between an end of term ‘fun lesson’ and learning. The quiz contains 12 rounds and a bonus round. Each round gives clues from a news story about a specific country. Students must guess which country the story relates to. Once they get the answer correct, they earn a figure worth:

5 points if correct after the first clue
4 points if correct after the second clue
3 points if correct after the third clue
2 point if correct after the fourth clue
1 point if correct after the fifth clue

They must then cut out the figures and use them to make a snow day scene, which they can gain extra points for at the end of the lesson.

Here’s what you need to do:

• Project the PowerPoint (making sure you know the answers, which are in the slide notes).
• Print enough copies of the answer sheet for 1 per group.
• Print enough copies of the figures to cut out and distribute as groups get questions correct. Each group will only get a maximum of 12 figures, but if lots of groups get the same score, you may need a couple of these sheets per class.
• Have plain paper (1 sheet per group), scissors, glue, pencils and colouring pencils at the ready!
