A PowerPoint presentation lesson that begins with a discussion by students as to why they believe the UN was created. Their thoughts are then debriefed with a full class discussion by the teacher. The students are then introduced to the basic organs of the UN and any discussion that follows can be debriefed by the teacher. Students are then given two quotes about the UN and asked to discuss the validity of the statements. This could easily be adapted as a written task. The lesson then concludes with a discussion on the UN’s effect on state sovereignty.
