This bundle provides full coverage of Topic 3 Hazardous Environments, bringing together the three core sections of the specification: Hazard Characteristics, Hazard Impacts, and Hazard Management. It is structured to move students from understanding how hazards form, to analysing their impacts, and finally evaluating how they can be managed.

The Hazard Characteristics unit builds the foundational knowledge of natural hazards. Students examine the causes, distribution, and features of earthquakes, volcanoes, and tropical cyclones, alongside how these events are measured. There is a clear focus on process-based understanding and developing accurate geographical explanation.

The Hazard Impacts unit develops this further by exploring the effects hazards have on people and the environment. Students analyse social, economic, and environmental impacts, as well as why impacts vary between countries. There is a strong emphasis on vulnerability, development, and comparative case study analysis.

The Hazard Management unit focuses on decision-making and evaluation. Students assess a range of strategies used to reduce risk, including prediction, protection, and preparation, as well as short- and long-term responses. There is a clear emphasis on effectiveness, limitations, and the role of development in shaping outcomes.

Across the bundle, resources are aligned closely to the Edexcel specification and structured to support progression from knowledge to application and evaluation. Lessons include case studies, diagrams, exam-style questions, and structured tasks to develop confidence with command words and extended responses.

This bundle is suitable for full topic delivery, revision, or targeted teaching of individual sections within the Hazardous Environments specification.
