This is an engaging partner activity on integration by trigonometric substitution. Each partner is given 8 integrals to solve as the corresponding problems of the partners are very similar ( the difference is in the constants). (Problem A1 is similar to problem B1, problem A2 is similar to problem B2, etc).
Students will need to use the substitutions x=asint or x=atant where a is a constant. Then they will need to use the Pythagorean identities and so on. As the problems pair by pair are similar partners can collaborate and help each other with methods.
This activity can be also used as independent practice with two different forms A & B. One of the form can be used for classwork and the other - as a homework assignment.
