When I was the head of department for Computer Science. I had a variety of non specialists delivering the lessons. I created a variety of resources to support the teachers. A part of that was an assessment log for all of KS3.

The log includes the topics covered to give your department a chronological structure. It includes pre and post tests and topic assessment for all subject matter linked to the curriculum with a link to Emerging, Developing, Secure and Master. There is reference to three forms of programming (Scratch, VB and Python) and some HTML to give students a little introduction to line based commands before starting to program.

As well as the assessment logs. I have also created a very simple but effective way of monitoring progress in a digital based environment. The PowerPoint template entitled “Production Diary”, is a way of measuring pupil progress, teacher feedback and peer feedback in a way conducive to an IT room. I have also provided a how to guide for the use of the production diary and booklets and two good examples of how the production diary could be used.

There are PowerPoints and resources that accompany these assessment logs, however they are currently a mixture of teachers work. Once they are all double checked and re made I will upload them. However if you have any questions about the attached booklets or need a resource please email baasit@siddiqui-education.co.uk
