Cyber Defenders is a complete, ready-to-teach KS3 Computing unit that teaches pupils how cyber attacks happen and how programmers build robust programs that keep attackers out. It is designed for pupils with little or no programming experience: Python appears only as short “read and predict” and “change one line” tasks, so everyone can access the ideas.
Each lesson is built around a real threat. Pupils learn about malware, phishing, brute force attacks and bad input, then see how authentication, validation, testing and clear code defend against them. Real-world cases such as WannaCry, TalkTalk and Heartbleed show why it matters.
LESSONS
Cyber Threats: what attackers want and how they attack
Passwords and Brute Force: authentication, lock-outs and two-factor
Never Trust the Input: validation checks as a defence
Bugs and Testing: syntax and logic errors, test data, bug bounties
Think Like a Hacker: ethical hacking, the Computer Misuse Act and test plans
Patch the System: debugging, patching and readable code
