KS3 Lesson on Igneous Rocks.
This lesson follows on from an Earth’s stucture lesson, which the starter task reviews.
Learning objectives include:
Describe how igneous rock is formed
Explain why igneous rock has different sized crystals
Follows KS3 AQA Big ideas on Earth (UK KS3 National Curriculum) - Science.
Lesson was originally planned to support SEND and EAL students - some dual coding used that can be deleted if not to your style.
Tasks include:
Talk partners - Describe what you see in the picture
Discussion - How do you think rocks are formed - Using provided statements you can encourage students to agree or disagree with and then see if they can form their own opinions.
