Lincoln and What Led to the Civil War

This is a 16 slide Power Point instructional presentation for American history teachers. This presentation provides background information on Abraham Lincoln and how he became involved in politics, and eventually becoming president. It also goes into his political platforms and the reasons which compelled the South to secede.

Please note that this resource does not focus on the Civil War itself but Lincoln, his politics, and the factors LEADING to the war.

This is a great resource to use as an introduction to the Civil War. It contains colorful pictures and images as well as a guided practice activity where students can assess what they have learned (an answer is provided).
