Adding and subtracting near multiples of ten (two days).

Children revise adding 19 and 21 by adding 20 and adjusting (J10, Jump 10 and ‘overjumping’). They add 30, 40 and 50 to two-digit numbers (answer less than 100), and then adjust to add 29, 31, 39, 41, 49 and 51. They use the same strategy to subtract 29, 31, 39, 41, 49 and 51. They record their jumps and hops on landmarked lines empty number lines.
