A Nativity drama script (six scenes) for primary school aged children. KS2. Nineteen speaking parts which can be reduced to eleven and can be extended by non-speaking parts to include the whole class. Can be read as a story for KS1. This tells the story of the birth of Jesus but from a different angle. It is told by the children of the original characters who gather in Nazareth to celebrate Jesus’ tenth birthday. Scene 1 introduces the characters which include three mice, a donkey, a camel and an ox. Scene 2 outlines the Roman census. The innkeeper’s children Leah and Reuben explain this. Scene 3 the shepherds’ children Toby, Nathaniel and Ruth recall what their fathers have told them about the event ten years ago. Scene 4 is the turn of Bart, Cassie and Mel to tell what their wise men fathers have told them. Scene 5 outlines th escape made by the wise men and the holy family. Scene 6 rounds it off with the celebration of Jesus’ birthday. The mention of the slaughter of the innocents will need sensitivity and is included to explain the escape of Jesus to Egypt.
