A great part-whole relationship activity to introduce fractions, or to consolidate the children’s understanding of the whole and parts. The worksheets have different images on them, for example a box a donuts. In the column ‘part of the whole’, the children use the sentence stem to write sentences about the parts. Such as, ‘If the box of donuts is the whole, then the chocolate donuts are part of the whole’. In the column ‘not part of the whole’, the children identify things which do not make up the whole. For example, ‘If the whole is the box of donuts, then an aeroplane is not part of the whole’. A fun activity to complete in partners / groups, or independently for more able children.
