This is lesson 1 of 19 lessons for year 7 introducing them to working in a science lab.

This is delivered as a 'Practical Licence' for Year 7, at the end of the topic they sit an assessment and receive a certificate/licence to stick in books to show that they can complete practicals safely.

Lesson 1 covers safety in a lab, delivered in a 4 part structure (connect, activate, demonstrate an consolidate), the success criteria for the lesson is:
- Identify safety issues in a laboratory
- Describe how safety issues can be minimised
- Construct a workable set of safety rules for Science classes
This includes 2 worksheets

Ideally this topic is used as a starting topic for year 7 & year 8 however it can be used at the end of the year as an extra topic if the curriculum has been completed early.
