There is a chance for the pupils to master the skill in a task which gets increasingly more difficult so that all pupils are challenged. There are then many worded problems, bound problems and reasoning problems to ensure that pupils are thinking and talking about rounding.

It gives pupils plenty of time to master the skill but then become fluent in using and applying.
