This interactive workbook is very good to enhance the concepts of gradient and intercept of straight line function. One simply enter values for gradient (slope) and y-intercept in particularly highlighted cells in the spreadsheet (Excel). The changes are instantaneously observed.
This is the way I explain the concepts of gradient (slope) and the intercept:
Gradient (Slope) is a measure of steepness and the y-intercept is the reading of the y-axis (or for the matter the vertical axis) where the line cuts it.
The lesson can be present in such way that pupils investigate and summarise their observations.
